Having a fortnight off for the Easter holiday has allowed me to spend more time doing the things I love. One of them of course is photography. Those who know me will know that I absolutely hate driving and fear it. But I have decide that I have to face my fears. At the moment I am driving out to various locations to take pictures and experiment more with what I shoot.
I recently decided to treat myself to a new lens. Most of the lenses I have are manual from when I used a 35mm SLR, and using these lenses on my Nikon D40x has been successful, but having to set the focus and aperture manually for every shot on a digital SLR can be limiting. My telephoto lens is completely manual so I have managed to get myself a Nikon 55-200mm VR Lens from good old Ebay. First, I have to say the optical quality of this lens is fantastic. It is very lightweight, which is always good. This is my first lens that has VR, which is a shake reduction system. This allows you to take pictures at a slower speed, hand held without the pictures blurring. I still yet to find out how good this really is but I have a feeling its going to be invaluable for a telephoto zoom lens.
Well, hopefully you will be seeing some more pictures with my new lens, and I'm going to get stuck in to driving. It's good to face your fears, and hopefully you'll look back and think why did I fear it in the first place.
Till the next time
